Drone commercialization has been rising concerns for the citizen, and those concerns are regarding privacy and public nuisance. Drones can take up commercial airspace but are small enough to fly past us when we stand in our backyards or driveways.
Attorney Lisa Ellan says commercial drones are one of the fastest-growing technology sectors. Ellman is an attorney with an unmanned aeroplane systems law firm. We are not surprised by her statement.
Commercial Drones: The Problem
Many UAV types, sizes, configurations, characteristics, and styles exist. Drones that are commercial or civilian are particularly dangerous. High-resolution cameras in drones can be used to invade your privacy. They can take images of you and your personal property.
Drones can also be used to smuggle drugs. They may also use them to crash into buildings or as remote “peeping Tom.” Drones can also be used to transport explosives and artillery.
Drone Jammers
Some people have been fighting against drones in their own way. They use a signal jammer to disrupt the connection between the drone and the station so that the drone will lose its direction.
Jammers can also be known as signal blockers or brouilleur d’ondes. These devices block radio communication by sending tons of powerful interference signals. They are widely used in prisons and gas stations to block mobile phone usage. But they have been available to disrupt drones in recent years.
The jammer works like a radio wave sender. When you activate it, white noise signals will be generated and hit on the frequency channels you want to jam. For drone jammers, those noise signals will be pushed on and cut off the remote control connection between the drone and ground station since the noise signals are usually in high-power format, so they can easily override the original signals.
So what happens to the drone?
Some of the cheap or old version drones will be fallen and hit on the ground immediately when they lose connection with the stations. But most drones today come with a default presetting; they will switch to returning mould and fly back to the operator when the remote control signals can be reached.

The Legality of Drone Jammers
Signal jammers that are used to block mobile phones, GPS, and WiFi are illegally to be used in many countries. Only some specified places, like hospitals or prisons in France, can use the jammers to prevent improper mobile phone usage.
For drone jammers, some countries in Europe think it’s legal to be used in private places. But they are still not allowed in the USA.
Should I use a drone jammer?
It’s always recommended to check your local regulations. If drone jammer is allowed in your region, that would be great. You don’t have any reason to say no to this device because it can protect you and your family from the potential risk of a drone attack. But drone jammer is not allowed in your country; you have to find another way to protect yourself.
